The Super Fine Tip (SFT) line took Best New Fly Line at the recent European Tackle Trade Exhibition, and with good reason. The popularity of ‘nymphing’ has outgrown the respective tackle. Climax looked at what the technique tries to achieve and have made a purpose built fly line for the job.
Traditionally, fly anglers have relied on extended, light line leaders to facilitate a realistic dead drift of a nymph. However most anglers use a standard line. It’s this part of the set up Climax outlined as an area for refinement.
With the Climax Super Fine Tip, the lightweight body features an extended five metre taper, with an ultra fine tip section. This all important 5m section would ordinarily ‘dig’ into the surface water tension and increase drag. With a heavily lightened mass on the Super Fine Tip the effects are heavily reduced, leading to a more natural presentation and more fish.
