Fishing-Tackle.co.uk introduced the original Fin-Nor Marquesa way back in February 2010. We liked the build and toughness of the smaller reels for UK fishing.
A year and a half later, Fin-Nor have released a 2-speed version, further extending the strengths and capabilities of these palm sized reels. And what’s more – they’ve won an award.
The Marquesa 2-speed was awarded Best New Multiplier Reel at the 2011 EFTTEX trade show in Amsterdam. The versatility of these reels was cited and we very much agree. The fully machined one-piece frame, Stainless gears and Fin-Nor carbon fibre drag (borrowed from their epic big game reels) are all still there, but this time these features are complemented by a two speed gearbox with both 6.1 and 3.1 ratios.
The 6.1 ratio is matched from the single speed reels and is sure to attract anglers looking for a jigging reel. However, the 3.1 low end is going to be a wise investment when you hook that monster in the depths.
We have to note that the Multiplier category was a lonely place this year, with only two other entrants. Despite this, we don’t believe this detracts from Fin-Nor’s win. A great addition to the Marquesa range. Well done Fin-Nor.
