New Daiwa Saltiga 3500 & 4000 Released

New Daiwa Saltiga 4000As far as light tackle fishing news goes, this is right up there… Daiwa have released the new Saltiga spinning reels in smaller sizes, including a baby 3500. Happy days!

When Daiwa released the new Saltiga range of spinning reels back in the tail end of 2010, questions were rightly asked over what this meant for the excellent Daiwa Saltiga Game range. Well our questions (and prayers) have been answered in the form of the new 3500 & 4000 sized reels launched recently in Japan. Unlike the Saltiga Game range, the new reels have kept the aesthetic appearance of their big brothers. They don’t appear to be disadvantaged in any way either – just pint sized versions of the bigger reels. New features such as the lightweight Zaion Rotor have been inherited and existing strengths, such as the Hyper DigiGear carried across. Both the 3500 and the 4000 sized reels are available in a standard (4.9:1) and High-speed (5.7:1) configuration. The Saltiga 3500H has an impressive range of stats for such a small reel: 5.7:1 gear ratio | 440 grams in weight | 10kg drag | Holds 300m of #2 PE braid

There also looks to be a new range of Daiwa RCS Custom spools for specific PE requirements.

If you are like the many anglers that are looking to heighten their angling pleasure by fishing lighter and lighter, or improve catches with increased finesse, or you’re just looking for a bomb proof spinning reel in the 3500 class, then this news is very, very exciting indeed.
