Akios S-Line Multiplier Reels Launched

Courtesy of Sea Angler magazine, further information on the new Akios S-Line range of multiplier reels has been released. Last month we reported that we’d spotted the new fishing reels but had very little information to go on. We can now announce the 6-strong range:

  • Akios S-Line 656CS – 6000-sized multiplier reel featuring level-wind
  • Akios S-Line 656CSM – 6000-sized multiplier reel featuring level-wind and magnetic brakes

New Akios Multiplier Reels Seen

We’ve spotted an interesting looking, new fishing reel at the back of a UK sea angling magazine. There’s only a small picture to go on but the multiplier reels – which look to be manufactured predominantly for sea fishing – appear to be branded as ‘Akios’, a brand we haven’t heard of before. Miriabu – newcomer to Big Game Reels

Just stumbled across Miriabu reel (and hooks) being imported into the UK by Advanta Angling. Not much to go on as yet but the reels look pretty, if not familiar in design.

The Miriabu Mito range of big game reels are said to have been tested against denizens of the deep in the Indian, Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

It appears that there three reels within the range in the following sizes; Mito 12/20, Mito 20/30 & Mito 50/80

Fin-Nor Marquesa Reels

It probably hasn’t escaped your notice that there’s a bit of a revolution going on in the boat multiplier market. A new breed of smaller, faster, tougher lever-drag reels specifically built for braid. First was the excellent Avet range, followed this year by the Shimano Talica and Daiwa Saltist Lever Drags.

A reel that may have escaped your attention in this new category is the Fin-Nor Marquesa. Fin-Nor used to be leader in big game fishing reels around the world but in recent years has handed down the mantel.
