It’s not all that often you discover a ‘homegrown’ angling product that you really want to get behind, but on discovering TKR’s tremendous looking Fishing Ruler I knew I had to get hold of one. Consequently once I’d recieved both the standard TKR Fishing Ruler and the ingenious TKR Extendable Fishing Ruler I was delighted. You may be thinking, “yeah, but it’s a measuring stick – I’ve seen them before”, but check out these features for a start:
-
Available in two sizes – 41cm and the spectacular 77cm extending rule
-
Features up to 25 fish species (21 on the 41cm / 25 on the 77cm) and the match standard National Federation of Sea Anglers (NFSA) minimum size limit for each
-
Every rule can be personalised – both colour combinations & engraving – excellent as gifts, promotional prizes, or for angling clubs/forums, etc
-
Hand crafted from hardened engraving laminate and vinyl = Near Indestructible
-
Scratch proof
-
100% Waterproof – even expandable measuring stick has no metal parts
-
Both rules fit inside a standard sized seat box
-
Made in the UK

I’ve had the two match measures for nearly two months at the time of this review; the standard size being exposed to beach work while the longer, extendable rule has become a permanent fixture aboard ‘Drifter’, our fast fisher. Whether used to measure fish for the pot, or needed frantically in match fishing mode, both fish rulers have fared well. The longer version that we keep on the boat has already been subjected to the rough skin of smoothhounds and dogfish without losing its markings, and while they’ve been thrown to the deck or across the beach in a hurry, neither has suffered for it.
Measurements are precise, even on the jointed rule and with a choice of colour schemes to choose from are sure to suit your eye sight (I can recommend the white on black markings).
It may seem a bit of a gimmick having your match measure personalised, but apart from being pretty nifty as a freebie (at no extra cost) it hints at the craftsmanship behind each rule – and that kind of makes it feel better. I can see this customisation going down really well with angling clubs and fishing forums, especially if matches are fished.
All in all, a fantastic fishing product that I’m sure TKR will earn full recognition for in time. It’s probably clear that my favourite is the longer, extendable match measure, which genuinely seems to fill a gap in the market for longer measuring sticks that can be easily transported – now a firm fixture in my boat angling kit. If you’re in the market for a new match measure or a personalised gift for a fishing friend or loved one I really can recommend the TKR Fishing Ruler for robustness, craftsmanship & value. Available from just £6.00.

I have been looking for this product in most angling shops suggested by tkr but to no avail is their a no I can contact them on as desperately require for fishing tackle box as most people ask me if their fish are sizeable as I have noticed a lot of undersize fish being kept this being one of my pet hates the video of the measuring stick in two sizes is robust and is a handy piece of equipment thanks for your help in this matter
Hi Dean. Thanks for your note. Unfortunately at this point in time I believe TKR have ceased producing their excellent match rules. All I can recommend is that you email the address featured on this page and hope for a reply. Hope you find one.
