We didn’t get a clear answer when we spoke to the Pure Fishing representative at the Tackle & Guns Trade Show yesterday, but it would appear that the amazing new Berkley Nanofil will be in the shops before 2011 is out – or ever so slightly more accurate, in ‘one or two months’.
We can’t wait to try out the thinnest versions of this line. We got to man-handle the line yesterday and have to say we were pleasantly surprised by its feel and profile. The thinnest 0.02 line is particularly impressive.
We spoke to sea angling consultant Mike Thrussell, who has been trialling the line in recent weeks. He’s been very happy with the performance, especially its casting abilities. The line’s smoothness and the saving in line diameter both lead to an improvement in casting distance, although to be clear, we’re talking about a spinning situation.
Mike also gave us his own opinion on which knot to use to connect a leader. In his testing he had found that a Uni to Uni has been the most durable. Good advice. Thanks Mike!
UPDATE 17th October 2011
We gained a second opinion on the final day of the Tackle & Guns show. From the conversation we had on the Pure Fishing stand, it would seem that UK anglers might get their hands on Nanofil sooner than we first thought. As you may have seen on our Twitter feed (bottom of the page), we have our fingers crossed for the first retail deliveries in the last few days of October.
