The Tackle and Guns Trade Show is upon us once again. Every October the T&G show attracts a mass of UK retailer, tackle manufacturers and press. Meetings are had, orders are taken and most exciting for us, the next season’s tackle is on display to gorp and drool over.
So this morning, we jumped in the car and headed off to Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire, for the first of the two day event.
This year Tackle & Guns have moved the layout around a little. It feels like they have shown some love to the shooting side of the show. That’s not at the detriment of angling as I would say fishing tackle takes up two thirds of the floor space. Anyhow, it lead to an interesting first hour working out where everyone was. The casting pool has moved but on the occasions I passed by, was in use by one of the many fly fishing manufacturers in attendance. In addition this year sees new attendee, Top Water Lures taking the initiative by bringing a lure tank to enable them to demonstrate their amazing range of hard and soft body lures – a welcome addition.
It was nice to see a high percentage of returning brands and distributors as it shows this show generally works for businesses. And just like previous shows, this 12th year saw its fair share of newcomers too. It was great to see Shimano back at T&G with an impressive stand, but as with ying and yang it would seem, Daiwa were unfortunately AWOL this year.
Anyway, the first day was great and there’s plenty of news to come. In the meantime, here’s a few pics from day one.
