Fishing on holiday just got a whole lot easier for me.
Just to clarify, we’re not talking about ‘Fishing Holidays’ here, with intense angling itineraries and perhaps lavish tackle purchases for taking-on the highly targeted game fish of your choice – we’re talking average family holidays abroad.

If you follow Fishing Tackle UK, you might have noticed that we got a bit carried away with the LRF (Light Rock Fish) style of ultralight lure fishing last year. It consumed our angling activities and became a constant distraction from other exciting types of fishing. While my passion for LRF continues to grow, at the beginning of 2012 we made an active, healthy, decision to make HRF (Hard Rock Fish) an intended focus this year.
Here’s something new. Ocean Ruler’s CrazyG HD jigs and jigheads were one of my favourite finds at the 2012 Nantes tackle show. As far as I know, the Ocean Ruler brand is owned by a Japanese tackle manufacturer called Tsuriken – known for innovation. On day two of the Tackle & Guns Trade Show I had the absolute pleasure of spending 20 minutes or so with Peter Koppman of Marukyu (thanks to Ben @ Art Of Fishing for the recommendation). Peter works for Marukyu, but more specifically on the Ecogear and Nories sub-brands – I guess you could say, the lure side of things. Peter is an Aussie and resides in Japan – the homeplace of Marukyu. He’s an angling nut from an angling family (his parents ran fishing tournaments when he was a kid) and he speaks Japanese.
