Fish Fest 2010 Show

2010 sure is turning out to be a hot year for fishing shows. Next event in your calendar should be Chapmans Angling’s Fish Fest 2010. A massive three day extravaganza will see a huge array of angling gurus and celebrities represent their prospective fishing tackle manufacturers at the Chapmans Angling Hull store, from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th March.

Amongst the Fish Fest 2010 highlights are live Bait and Rig Making Demos, Q&A Sessions with angling’s top stars, a Bivvy Village, the Latest 2010 Products and Bargains Galore. They’ll also be a number of very special competitions available to those that attend the show – including the opportunity to fish with angling superheroes (including legend John Wilson!) Tackle Fanatics – New Site for Used Fishing Tackle

“Tackle Fanatics is an exciting new website launching in April 2010 which will offer the UK’s biggest range of quality used tackle!”

That’s a bold statement when you consider the success of eBay but it’s exactly what the company behind TackleFanactics.co.uk have set their sights on. We came across Tackle Fanatics at The Big One tackle show in Farnborough and I must say, from a presentation perspective, Craig and Matthew (the gentlemen behind the new venture) they have it spot on, with a fresh and vibrant looking brand. The Big One Tackle Show 2010 – a great success

I attended The Big One fishing tackle show in Farnborough, on Saturday 20th February and hats off to Fishface Promotions – it was a cracker!

I haven’t seen any official visitor numbers but at times during the morning it was absolutely ram packed – hundreds and hundreds of anglers all looking for a bargain or two and taking advantage of the excellent displays and seminars by the tackle manufacturers and angling celebrities that attended.

Parking was easy and as promised there was a nice touch in that for anglers that overindulged themselves on the discount tackle (especially heavy ground-bait, pellet and boilies) there were a number of Continue reading “The Big One Tackle Show 2010 – a great success”

The Big One Fishing Show 2010

Following on from their success in 2009, The Big One fishing show returns to Farnborough in 2010 over two days – 20th & 21st February. A huge number of fishing tackle manufacturers and tackle retailers will be present at the show as well as a few celebrities including; Keith Arthur (Talk Sport / Tight Lines), Bob Nudd (4 times Match World Champion) and Korda’s Danny Fairbrass.

Exhibitors confirmed for the event include: Maver, Browning, Used Tackle, Tubertini, Trakker, Sonik, Fox, Tony’s Tackle, Korda, Nash & many, many more.

The Big One has grown to be an unexpected hit over the years with many stall holders attending this event and choosing not to endure the large costs associated with shows like the Go Fishing Show at Birmingham’s NEC. It’s great to see a show like this grow in popularity by following a formula lead Continue reading “The Big One Fishing Show 2010”

Daiwa Catalogue 2010 – Daiwa Reels [part 1]

A copy of Daiwa’s UK 2010 fishing tackle catalogue arrived this morning, much to my delight. For the benefit of those who haven’t received one yet I thought I’d walk you through it – starting with 2010 reels.

Reels

In terms of reel technology there doesn’t appear to be an awful lot of new development for 2010. That’s not to say that Daiwa have rested on their laurels this year, but it just appears that they have concentrated on applying their superb, existing technologies further down the range. In summary, there aren’t any new developments at the top of the tree, but with the likes of Zaion, Real Four, DIGIGEAR and the QD drag already in the lineup, we’re already spoilt. A good example of existing technology filtering down through the range this year is the addition of the excellent High Impact Line Clip (HIP Clip) to smaller fixed spools and away from the exclusivity of the bigger carp reels. For those that don’t know, this ingenious line clip on the spool features a braid and mono friendly collar behind the clip so it can be used safely as a distance control without the fear of damaging line. It finds its way from the top-flight BASIAIR onto the replacement for the ever popular TD-R Match & Feeder reels – the new TD-X range. This new addition should go down a storm.
