Tackle Fanatics – New Site for Used Fishing Tackle

“Tackle Fanatics is an exciting new website launching in April 2010 which will offer the UK’s biggest range of quality used tackle!”

That’s a bold statement when you consider the success of eBay but it’s exactly what the company behind TackleFanactics.co.uk have set their sights on. We came across Tackle Fanatics at The Big One tackle show in Farnborough and I must say, from a presentation perspective, Craig and Matthew (the gentlemen behind the new venture) they have it spot on, with a fresh and vibrant looking brand. New Daiwa Certate for 2010

2010 is already proving to be a great year for exciting new fishing tackle. The latest in a growing list of hot tackle items to be launched this year is news that Daiwa have created a brand new Certate – one of the best spinning reels in the world.

Best news of all is that Daiwa haven’t just rehashed the existing design but created something brand new with some amazing new features. First up, something called ‘Mag Sealed’. This new feature is straight out of sci-fi. Based on NASA technology, Daiwa have capitalised on a new material – magnetic fluid. Used for fuel management in space ships, Daiwa have adapted this latest technology as a waterproofing agent. The Continue reading “New Daiwa Certate for 2010”

Daiwa Catalogue 2010 – Daiwa Reels [part 1]

A copy of Daiwa’s UK 2010 fishing tackle catalogue arrived this morning, much to my delight. For the benefit of those who haven’t received one yet I thought I’d walk you through it – starting with 2010 reels.

Reels

In terms of reel technology there doesn’t appear to be an awful lot of new development for 2010. That’s not to say that Daiwa have rested on their laurels this year, but it just appears that they have concentrated on applying their superb, existing technologies further down the range. In summary, there aren’t any new developments at the top of the tree, but with the likes of Zaion, Real Four, DIGIGEAR and the QD drag already in the lineup, we’re already spoilt. A good example of existing technology filtering down through the range this year is the addition of the excellent High Impact Line Clip (HIP Clip) to smaller fixed spools and away from the exclusivity of the bigger carp reels. For those that don’t know, this ingenious line clip on the spool features a braid and mono friendly collar behind the clip so it can be used safely as a distance control without the fear of damaging line. It finds its way from the top-flight BASIAIR onto the replacement for the ever popular TD-R Match & Feeder reels – the new TD-X range. This new addition should go down a storm. Daiwa to get new brand identity and logo

We’ve spotted that Daiwa appears to have made a pretty major change in its branding and logos. The Australian Daiwa website reports on the change of identity – Daiwa Australia. The new logo, ‘Vector Daiwa’ is a fresh new angular typeface representing Daiwa’s technology and forward thinking. The new slogan is, ‘Feel Alive’ expressing the passionate link between anglers, nature and their outdoor lifestyle.

We’re sure that this change will become worldwide and other countries are likely to follow suit as soon as possible.

What do you think of the new logo? Will it take some getting use to? Bad decision or long overdue? Let us know your thoughts below. Continue reading “Daiwa to get new brand identity and logo”

First look at new Daiwa TD-X Fixed Spool Reel

This week, the Angling Times gives us an exclusive look at one of the new reels in Daiwa’s 2010 range – the Daiwa TD-X – which looks like the replacement for the ever popular TDR (the blue one).

Angling Times exclusively reveal that the new reel will be in the shops by the end of November – perhaps you won’t get that naff pen that turns into a fishing rod for Christmas after all!

In terms of enhancements the TD-X moves on from the TDR in a number of ways. The reel now features a push-button release on the spool making changeovers much quicker and trouble free. There’s a new line clip system that’s been inherited from the top-of-the-range Basiair carp reel and a waterproof drag system that’s been developed from another high-end reel, the Certate.
