Marukyu, Ecogear, Nories and the Future for the UK

Marukyu | Nories | EcogearOn day two of the Tackle & Guns Trade Show I had the absolute pleasure of spending 20 minutes or so with Peter Koppman of Marukyu (thanks to Ben @ Art Of Fishing for the recommendation). Peter works for Marukyu, but more specifically on the Ecogear and Nories sub-brands – I guess you could say, the lure side of things. Peter is an Aussie and resides in Japan – the homeplace of Marukyu. He’s an angling nut from an angling family (his parents ran fishing tournaments when he was a kid) and he speaks Japanese. In short, he’s a pretty interesting guy and no doubt a Continue reading “Marukyu, Ecogear, Nories and the Future for the UK”

Sakura Rock Pocket Review – LRF Lure Wallet

Sakura Rock PocketFor me, part of the enjoyment I’ve taken from discovering ultralight lure fishing, whether that be saltwater LRF or fishing for freshwater Perch, is from the increased mobility and comfort levels experienced. When I started fishing this style just under a year ago now, I didn’t really know which lures and jigs I was going to use from one session to the next. Jacks LRF Ultralight Lures

Jacks LRF Blok HedWe’ve talked about the recent uprising of specialist lure fishing shops before now, but I wanted to highlight one in particular – ‘Jacks LRF’.

I want to call Jacks LRF a ‘cottage industry’ type of business – I’m hoping neither Andy or Jack take offense at that. You see with Jacks LRF there’s a level of interest in ultralight lures that’s above the norm. The service is fantastic and friendly, and I can get unique, quality lures that I can’t obtain anywhere else. It’s specialist Continue reading “Jacks LRF Ultralight Lures”

2-inch Cultiva Ring Kick Tail Lures by Owner

Cultiva Ring Kick Tail LuresRecently I exposed my guilty pleasure of ultra light lure fishing, mostly with soft plastics. Now with hours of LRF experience under my belt, a few successful lures are starting to stand out above the dozens I originally purchased (without too much know-how).

One go-to lure of mine is the excellent Cultiva Ring Kick Tail. If you’ve not heard of the Cultiva brand before, it’s the lure arm of Owner – the top-flight hook and jig head manufacturer. Continue reading “2-inch Cultiva Ring Kick Tail Lures by Owner”

Strike Pro Twin Minnow – Best Hard Lure EFTTEX 2011

Strike Pro Twin MinnowIn another monster category of 19 qualifiers, Strike Pro won the 2011 EFTTEX exhibition prize for best new hard lure last week with their Twin Minnow.

There’s no question that the Strike Pro Twin Minnow is innovative. While at first glance, bonding two hardbaits together may seem a little odd, there’s good reason for doing so. This combined, longer, heavier lure casts further, allowing you to get your lure to fish at distance. And once in the water the prey size is Continue reading “Strike Pro Twin Minnow – Best Hard Lure EFTTEX 2011”
