Video: 2010 ABU Garcia Reels & Berkley Line

In this video from James Robbins, Product Development Manager for both ABU Garcia and Berkley we get a snap shot of some of the new products to be launched by the two tackle giants in the coming season.

First up is an old favourite brought right up to date. The Premier 706 closed-face reel takes its pedigree from the ABU 506’s and 507’s of yesteryear. Size is similar, but there’s a whole host of improvements that look to make this a new favourite in seasons to come.

Next up James gives us an overview of two new fixed spool reels from the ABU Garcia stable. The Soron SX gives anglers a more affordable version of last year’s STX, ranging from £80 to £100 depending on size and hosting a number of unique features. The Cardinal brand gets a new addition in the form of the Cardinal Free Runner (with freespool function) in three sizes; 30, 50 & 70. Each are available in an upgraded format for a few more pounds and feature additional bearings and improved parts.

Looking at the lines from Berkley, James covers the versatile Trilene Sensation – robust, low diametre, clear and good value. Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon is now available in bulk spools due to a requirement from carp anglers. Yes, it’s almost invisible under water but there are added advantages in that it’s very tough and also sinks quicker than normal mono, an important consideration when fishing at distance. James covers one of the many braids in the Spiderwire range – EZ Braid – both tough and thin diameter. Finally we examine the new XWR line from Berkley, a high quality line suitable for pole rig making and hook-length material. £5 gets you a 200 meter spool of this top-notch line which sounds very competitive.
