There has been some talk on internet fishing forums & chat rooms that Daiwa will update the existing Saltiga Z range of heavy-duty spinning reels this year. If the rumours are true this might see Daiwa include their latest technologies in one of the best reels on the planet. New innovations like ‘Mag Sealed’ waterproofing could be included, as featured in this year’s release of the new Daiwa Certate in Japan.

It’s not all that often you discover a ‘homegrown’ angling product that you really want to get behind, but on discovering TKR’s tremendous looking Fishing Ruler I knew I had to get hold of one. Consequently once I’d recieved both the standard TKR Fishing Ruler and the ingenious TKR Extendable Fishing Ruler I was delighted. Rivercraft, a new European brand in sport fishing has recently launched to the public. With a European focus, Rivercraft specialises in fly fishing, spinning and casting tackle, clothing and accessories.
SONIK Sports launched back in May 2008 and from the off it was clear that the brand was a little bit special – not surprising considering the pedigree of the gentlemen behind it. Former Hardy & Greys commercial director Ian McCormack and Tony Anderson, who also worked at the Alnwick company as a product manager were joined by seasoned marketeer, John Openshaw to form the new fishing tackle manufacturer. It is John’s role within SONIK Sports that perhaps interests me the most.
