New Shimano Stella for 2010

It’s always a good year when Shimano bring out a new Stella – the flagship fishing reel in their range. Luckily for us, 2010 is one of those years. Introducing the new Shimano Stella featuring X-SHIP (Extra Smooth & High Power).

As you can see, the reel has been aesthetically modified once more and is as beautiful as ever. I’m sure this will be enough for some anglers to part with a large chunk of change, however Shimano have added so much more in this new model. At the heart is X-SHIP. The ‘Extra Smooth’ appears to come from improved bearing placement on the main shaft. The reel also features Shimano’s Full Floating Shaft. The ‘High Power’ is driven by a new design with a larger Continue reading “New Shimano Stella for 2010”

Interest Free Fishing Tackle on Finance

With the new season fast approaching it comes as no surprise that we’re seeing a growing trend of anglers looking for ‘fishing tackle finance’ in our search logs for the site. Credit fills me with dread – I’d have trouble recommending finance to anyone – but if it gets you fishing and you don’t overspend and keep within your reasonable limits then I guess I can see it as a means to an end. I thought I’d have a look around the web to see what the options were like.

It appears that there are Interest Free Credit options available, even in today’s financial climate. One of Fishing-Tackle.co.uk’s partners – Fishtec – offer no deposit, interest free payments over 6 months. The trade off is that this is only available if you spend over. Tackle Fanatics – New Site for Used Fishing Tackle

“Tackle Fanatics is an exciting new website launching in April 2010 which will offer the UK’s biggest range of quality used tackle!”

That’s a bold statement when you consider the success of eBay but it’s exactly what the company behind TackleFanactics.co.uk have set their sights on. We came across Tackle Fanatics at The Big One tackle show in Farnborough and I must say, from a presentation perspective, Craig and Matthew (the gentlemen behind the new venture) they have it spot on, with a fresh and vibrant looking brand. Tuf-Line / Snowbee – T&G Show [part 2]

One of the most attractive stands at the show, and as ever filled with quality products was that of Snowbee. 2009 has proved to be the best year yet for Snowbee’s 25 years in business. The success is reported to be due to ranging quality, innovative products that are sensibly priced and supported by great service and supply.

Amongst the huge array of first class fly fishing equipment on offer was a big star of the future in the UK – perhaps even a bit understated – Tuf-Line braid line.

Tuf-Line superlines are manufactured by Western Filaments in the US. They already have quite a following in other parts of the world but haven’t really been promoted all that heavily here in the UK. Snowbee have picked up the UK and Irish distribution after losing Power Pro when the manufacturer, Innovative Textiles was gobbled up by Shimano earlier this year. Although Snowbee picking up Tuf-Line was as a direct result of losing Power Pro their statement says it all, “We thought we had used the best, until we came across Tuf-Line… It’s amazing!” Continue reading “Tuf-Line / Snowbee – T&G Show [part 2]”

Shimano Baby Baitrunners win Coarse Fishing Award

It didn’t take long! Just moments after Shimano’s 2010 catalogue had arrived, the new ‘Baby Baitrunners’ have already won their first award.

UK publication, Improve Your Coarse Fishing has awarded the new, smaller-than-ever baitrunners their ‘Product of the Month’ award citing the new design as revolutionary for some areas of the sport.

Dave Woodmansey, Deputy Editor of Improve Your Coarse Fishing commented ‘These reels are absolutely cock-on for commercial carp work where ‘lumps’ regularly rip rods off rests, or for specialist barbel, chub, tench, and bream fishing, or lightweight roving.’ Continue reading “Shimano Baby Baitrunners win Coarse Fishing Award”
